Students take home gold at BPA conference | News, Sports, Jobs

ESCANABA — Students from across the U.P. made an appearance at Bay College in Escanaba on Jan. 13 to demonstrate management, marketing, and technology skills at the Business Professionals of America regional conference. Student members of the Stephenson High School Chapter of BPA showed their skills and brought home the gold for their efforts. As a result of their success, 21 Stephenson students qualified to represent their school at the state level competitions in March.

Capturing first place awards were Video Production team members Jonas Priebe, Tristan Kacynski, Logen Olson, and Canon Kuntze; Parliamentary Procedures Team members Joelle Beaudo, Faith Cappaert, Morgan Bergquist, Griffin Brown, Olivia Cappaert, and Luke Olson; Lilyan Wagner in Integrated Office Applications; Griffin Brown in Parliamentary Procedures Concepts; Logen Olson in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications; the Presentation Team members Kayela Putnam and Ashton Grinsteiner; Ava Hummel in Fundamentals of Web Design; and Joelle Beaudo in Medical Terminology Concepts.

Second place awards were earned by Lilyan Wagner in Advanced Word Processing and Administrative Support Concepts; Joelle Beaudo in Parliamentary Procedures Concepts; Ava Hummel in Digital Communication & Design Concepts; Bridget Paidl in Interview Skills; and Jacob Ross in Economic Research Individual.

Receiving third place awards were Luke Olson in Parliamentary Procedures Concepts; Griffin Brown in Financial Math & Analysis Concepts; and Sydney Ebsch in Meeting & Event Planning Concepts.

Earning a fourth place medal was Alivia Johnson in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications.

A fifth place award was earned by Ashton Grinsteiner in Entrepreneurship.

The 2023 BPA State Leadership Conference will be held March 9-12 in Grand Rapids. At the state conference, Stephenson students will compete against BPA students from across Michigan, attend workshops designed to aid in professional development and gain valuable work skills.
