Author: McLaren Flint

We want to share a few of the ways McLaren Flint leadership, physicians, medical residents and fellows, and clinical and support staff are sharing their knowledge and skills to promote better health and well-being throughout Flint and Genesee County. These community connections come from a desire to make a difference in the health of all residents, no matter their age. Our Vision: McLaren Flint will be the recognized leader and preferred provider of primary and specialty healthcare services to the communities of mid-Michigan. This week we introduce you to……

McLaren Flint’s Free Mammogram Program not only promotes breast cancer awareness, it also provides 3D screening mammograms for uninsured, at-risk, low-income women throughout Genesee County. Funding is made possible through the “Hockey Fight’s Cancer” partnership between McLaren Flint and the Flint Firebirds and generous support from the Pink Par-Tee, Diagnostic Radiology, Sovita Credit Union, and The HCS Group. Annual screening mammograms are vital in catching health concerns early. When it comes to cancer, the earlier it is detected, the better the outcomes. If detected early, the five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 98 percent. Patients can be assured health care providers are offering safe care.

McLaren is proud to offer all women the newest technology in 3D breast imaging. To qualify for the McLaren Flint Free Mammogram Program, women must be: • Uninsured • 40 years or older- physician order not required for screening mammogram • Under 40 years of age with high risk factors • Resident of Genesee County with proof of address and a Social Security number • Have a family physician to receive mammogram results.

Patients without a primary care physician can establish one at the McLaren Family Medicine Residency center by calling (810) 342-5656.

Those who think they may qualify for this outreach effort may call the McLaren Imaging Center at (810) 342-4800.
