NanoDLP, A Platform for Resin 3D Printing


The use of software that assists the user during the manufacturing process is very important in the 3D printing industry. From the preparation of the digital file, to the lamination process, to the control of the printing in real time. In recent years we have seen an increasing demand for software capable of optimizing and simplifying processes to facilitate a better user experience. To take a closer look at the solutions available on the market, we present this guide to NanoDLP, a company with solutions intended for photopolymerization-based 3D printers. Based in Canada, NanoDLP has developed an online platform that provides greater preparation, control and monitoring of resin 3D printers, specifically those that work by LCD and DLP technologies.

Among the company’s solutions we can highlight two in particular. The first is the NanoDLP platform to control the printing process, and the second is NanoSupport, the slicer that prepares files and generates support structures. NanoDLP’s web platform allows remote monitoring and control of resin 3D printers. One interesting aspect of the platform is the customization, as the user can change aspects such as displayed information (position, layer, etc.) and print settings, for example speed and quality. Its monitoring function makes it easy to monitor hardware resources and detect problems instantly. Compatible with a wide range of platforms and hardware, the program has a large number of functions to deliver high-quality results during the manufacturing process. The company claims it is a high-performance solution with no noticeable lag on Raspberry Pi. Available for Windows, Mac and Linux, NanoDLP can be operated online via the cloud and can be accessed via computer, tablet or phone.

NanoSupport, on the other hand, is the 3D editor and laminator developed by the Canadian company. It is one of the most prominent slicers for resin 3D printers on the market. The software includes basic lamination functions such as fading, casting, filling and masking. It also allows orientation, support generation and preparation of digital models for subsequent 3D printing. It has a system for both manual and automated support creation, with three different types of supports: small, medium and large. The dimensions of these supports can be modified and visualized in real time. It is able to automatically detect and communicate with the NanoDLP controller within a private network. With a fast, clean and advanced interface, NanoSupport integrates all NanoDLP cutting functions.

Final Recommendations

An important thing to consider before committing to NanoDLP is the user experience. Due to its advanced features and control interface, many agree that the software is not as easy to use as it seems. Therefore, if you are a beginner in the world of 3D printing, you may find this solution somewhat more complex than others available on the market. Also, for some people, the NanoSupport slicer may be somewhat limited.
