Many journalists have great ideas about improving their publications but struggle to make them happen. For smaller newsrooms where everyone does a little bit of everything, having the right tools to create new products can mean the difference between being profitable and folding in.

The News Product Alliance (NPA), a community of support for those who think about new products in news organisations, has created a library of more than 300 open learning resources for media professionals. Webinars, e-books and online articles were sourced by NPA’s Slack community and curated by journalists from all over the world. Topics span audience engagement; diversity and inclusion; leadership and people management; business models and monetisation; product design; and tech.

If you feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of content, check out the “Learning paths” section that features curated lists of resources divided by subject. This is also helpful for those new to product thinking as it breaks down the jargon and concepts that are alien to most journalists.
