Who are we?
Hinterland Projects has a goal to leave it better than we found it.
We cut our teeth renovating and restoring classic properties in Venice and Santa Monica. Bringing modern amenity and systems, whilst maintaining the charm and intent of the original design. Our still small team is now branching out into larger renovations and ground up construction of multi-family apartments of our own design.
Our team handles the entire life cycle of a project – From acquisitions and financing, to design & development, construction management and all the way through to property management and maintenance.
We are based in Venice, CA and our projects are typically in West LA and towards Palms, Culver City and West Adams.
Who are you?
You’re a current student in an Architecture program.
You live in Los Angeles and are willing and able to work in our office in Venice.
You’re looking for experience outside the classroom and to build your network. You may be torn between working as part of a big firm or as a key team member in a small shop after you graduate.
You can think creatively and big picture to solve problems but can also zoom back down to focus on the project and implement the details. You’re a wizard at CAD/ BIM software, Adobe suite and basically any computer program needed to express visual ideas and project management.
Most of all you’re hungry, a little bit scared but confident you will figure it out by doing. A team player desiring to learn from and potentially join a high performing crew, to express themselves through their work.
What can we offer?
We can offer you time, support and guidance as you dive into real world projects with our team. Candidates with superior skill levels in CAD/ BIM will also be offered paid drafting/ design work.
This hybrid internship/ freelance model will be project based and flexible to class or other part time work schedules.
There will be both in-office and on-site work, allowing you to see projects from beginning to end.
You will work with our in-house development and construction teams and also architects, engineers, designers and general contractors.
From there, it’s up to you. Outstanding candidates will become integral to the team and may create a full time position with us, or a firm we work with, by how they show up and perform.
– CAD/ BIM software experience. (Mainly AutoCAD, SketchUp and some Revit)
– Adobe suite of products
– Graphic and web design experience is a BIG plus +++
– Familiarity with Microsoft office suite, Smartsheets, Google product suite and Notion
If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and if it sounds like a fit for you, we hope you apply!
All the best,
