Description
We are looking for an Architect/Designer to join in the research and development of a residential building system. Responsibilities include defining design criteria specifications, creating Revit-based models and digital drawings and renderings, and designing fully-functional products with a deep understanding of our end-users as well as the supply and production processes. To be successful in this role, you should be versed in multifaceted design thinking, have a relentless obsession with both form and function, understand the residential system, products, and methods of construction, have a keen eye for material, color, shape, and detail, and be able to translate requirements into practical product features. Ultimately, you will help us build products that are delightful to our clients and customers, responsibly designed and manufactured, and help us bring better living to more people.
Responsibilities
- Work with R&D team to develop a prototype system for the design and construction of single-family and low-rise multifamily homes
- Identify opportunities for product features
- Analyze how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
- Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
- Research materials, systems, supply chains, fabrication and assembly techniques
- Sketch drafts on paper or digitally (for example, using Revit, Enscape, Cove.tool, etc)
- Use 3D modeling software to design products and components (Revit and other Autodesk suite tools)
- Produce digital prototypes and test functionality
- Contribute to and Improve the design of existing products and custom projects
- Gather feedback from clients and product users
Requirements
- Education and work experience in the residential architecture, design, and construction fields
- Advanced knowledge of Revit custom families, components, scripts, and associated Autodesk programs
- Advanced knowledge of rendering software
- Design Thinking capacity to solve multiple competing product requirements
- Experience with graphic design programs (Illustrator and Indesign )
